SUMMARY:Workshop on `MIning and REasoning with Leg
al texts' (MIREL 2017), London, England
DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20170616
DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20170616
LOCATION:London, England
DESCRIPTION:The management of large repositories o
f norms, and the semantic access and reasoning to
these norms are key challenges in Legal Informatic
 s. As the law gets more complex, conflicting, and
ever changing, more advanced methodologies are req
uired for analyzing, representing and reasoning on
legal knowledge.Specifically, it is necessary to
address both conceptual challenges, such as the ro
le of legal interpretation in mining and reasoning
, and computational challenges, such as the handli
ng of big legal data, and the complexity of regula
tory compliance. The aim of the MIREL-2017 worksh
op is to bridge the gap between the community work
ing on legal ontologies and NLP parsers and the co
mmunity working on reasoning methods and formal lo
gic, towards these objectives described above. We
invite submissions up to 12 pages plus 3 addition
al pages for bibliography and appendix, in LNCS fo
rmat. A selection of the best papers of the worksh
op will be published at LNAI Springer Series joint
 ly with AICOL follow-up activities.
